Arsenal are ready for a busy summer of spending with scouts heading out to Germany

Arsenal are said to be one of several of Europe’s top sides who will have scouts heading to Germany to watch one of the stars of the European Championships.

The Gunners are ready for a huge summer of transfer business as Mikel Arteta eyes a new left-back, central midfielder and striker ahead of the 2024/25 season. Having lost out to Manchester City by just two points in the last campaign, Arsenal will hope that a fruitful transfer window this summer will see them finally lift the Premier League trophy when May 2025 comes around.

While Arsenal have been linked with a move for Italy and Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori - much like the rest of Europe’s best clubs - another defensive option the Gunners have been eyeing is Ferdi Kadioglu. The Fenerbahce star has been a hugely impressive figure at the Euros for Turkey this summer.

The £26m-rated defender is a right-footed full-back who often inverts from the left and could therefore help deputise for William Saliba and Gabriel while aiding Arteta’s left-back dilemma. The 24-year-old has been considered a ‘superstar’ for his club and their head coach Jose Mourinho would reportedly be exceptionally loath to lose him.

However, at a cost of £26m, the Dutch-born Turkish star has understandably caught the eye of several European clubs and Fotomac now report that Arsenal are to be one of many clubs in attendance at Turkiye’s last 16 game against Austria this evening (July 2) to watch Kadioglu in action.

The Arsenal scouts are reputed to be joined by fellow London sides West Ham and Fulham as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers. With such increased interest, the Gunners may end up facing a bigger price tag than the aforementioned £26m but it is already a much more appealing figure than the £40m minimum price tag currently placed on the Italian star Calafiori.

Turkiye beat Georgia and the Czech Republic to reach the Euros last 16 with Kadioglu in the starting line up for all three games.
