Arsenal ‘presented’ an offer to Barcelona for winger Raphinha in the January transfer window but saw it rejected by the La Liga giants, according to a report by Spanish news outlet SPORT. The Gunners looked into a potential deal for the Brazil international but ended up bringing in Leandro Trossard from fellow English club Brighton and Hove Albion instead.
Raphinha left Leeds United for the Camp Nou last summer but has struggled to make an impact since moving to Spain. However, they had no intention of letting him leave for the Emirates Stadium earlier this winter and he stayed put.
Defender eyed
Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘scouting’ Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda as they eye up a potential swoop at the end of this season, as per the Evening Standard. The 18-year-old, who has broken into the first-team of his current club this term, was linked with a switch to Arsenal a couple of months ago but nothing materialised in the end.
He is a man in-demand at the moment though and is being tipped for a bright future. Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United and Juventus are also said to be keen.
