Arsenal could sell two first-team midfielders to fund a transfer for a Brazilian starlet who is also being targeted by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Arsenal could sell both Thomas Partey and Jorginho in the January transfer window to action a deal for Fluminese prodigy Andre, according to a recent report from Football Insider. They aren’t the only interested party, however - he has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Reds reportedly had a series of bids for the player rejected, as Fluminese did everything in their power to keep him at the club. In January, though, they may be more willing to part ways with the Brazilian.

Liverpool are still considered strong contenders to land Andre from Fluminese - however, with funds amassed from the potential sales of Partey and Jorginho, Arsenal may be able to put forth a bid that the Reds will not be able to match.

Do Thomas Partey and Jorginho still have a role to play at Arsenal?

Partey and Jorginho are both very capable players, even if they may both be past their best at this stage in their respective careers. Partey is now at the age of 30, while Jorginho is 31.

Replacing them with Andre would certainly be a positive move where the future is concerned - aged just 22, his best years are still well ahead of him. They’re certainly not surplus to requirements, but the Gunners should think about a changing of the guard soon.

What would Andre bring to Arsenal?

Andre plays with a maturity rarely seen in such a young central midfielder. He moves the ball around in a very composed, measured fashion - additionally, he always tries to move the ball forward, as you can see with the amount of completed progressive carries he has accomplished [via FBref].

With a passing accuracy of 93.9%, his ball-playing abilities are excellent. He has some work to do on the defensive side of his game, only averaging two tackles and one interception per 90 minutes, but it’s far from a glaring weakness.
