Arsenal failed to retake top spot in the Premier League after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to London rivals West Ham United on Thursday evening. The Gunners went behind in the 13th minute after a defensive mix-up and struggled to break down the Hammers' deep block after that point.
David Moyes' men added a second in the 55th minute when Konstantinos Mavropanos headed home from a corner, and they defended valiantly before to pick up a huge three points at the Emirates Stadium, denying Arsenal the chance to climb back above Liverpool. Here we rate the Gunners players from a frustrating night for Mikel Arteta and his men.
5. Oleksandr Zinchenko (OFF 63') - 3
As mentioned above, Zinchenko's mix-up with Gabriel led to the opener. He then completely lost the man he was marking - Mavropanos - for the second. A stinker for the Ukrainian.
6. Declan Rice - 5
Kept things ticking over and had a couple of good long range efforts. He did, however, leave a leg hanging deep into stoppage time to concede a penalty. Fortunately for him, his rating doesn't drop any lower due to the game already being lost.
7. Leandro Trossard (OFF 78') - 7
Some teasing and dangerous balls into the box. Showed intensity and was Arsenal's brightest spark.
8. Martin Odegaard - 6
Moved the ball well. Didn't get into as many advanced positions as he would have liked, but that's a tough ask for midfielders against such a low block. Came close with a fine long range shot late on.
