Arsenal player ratings gallery: three players score 2/10 and plenty land 4/10 in disappointing defeat

Arsenal suffer 2-0 defeat to PSV who are managed by former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Arsenal suffered their second defeat of the campaign following a 2-0 defeat to PSV in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening. The Gunners were looking to seal top spot but were lucky to lose just by two goals after PSV had three goals rightly ruled out for offside.

Joey Veerman opened the scoring for PSV before substitute Luuk de Jong ensured all the points would stay with the homeside with a brilliant header- aided by a howler from Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who came out for a cross but ended up missing the ball.

This was the first game this season that Arsenal looked well beaten and buried without a fight. They were quite fortunate as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side had three goals ruled out for marginal offsides. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was forced to throw in his big players including Thomas Partey and Bukayo Saka early in the sound half but tried as they did, they were unable to rescue the scoreline.

The Gunners came into the game looking for a point that would have sealed top spot but it was PSV who closed the gap on the Premier League leaders to just two points in group A of the Europa League and it will be interesting to see how they react to that having only managed a draw against Southampton in the Premier League over the weekend.

They will now have to beat Zurich at home next Thursday at the Emirates stadium to guarantee their spot in the next round of the competition.

Here is how we rated every player who was out there today.
