Martin Odegaard told how to unlock Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal by Sporting CP playmaker
Martin Odegaard could pick up on fresh hints dropped by a former teammate of Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal have seen moments of brilliance from marquee summer signing Viktor Gyokeres so far this season but the Sweden international is yet to hit the relentless goalscoring form that impressed the continent when at Sporting CP last season.

The 27-year-old plundered 54 goals in 52 outings last term and has three Gunners goals to his name so far. Two of those came in the 5-0 thrashing of Leeds United with another one added in the 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Gyokeres has already earned somewhat of a reputation as a flat-track bully, having not scored away from home or against Manchester United and Liverpool. A visit to Manchester City this weekend provides the striker with a chance to shake off those claims.
Arsenal midfielders told how to unlock Viktor Gyokeres potential
Fresh quotes from Portugal may help inspire Arsenal in unlocking Gyokeres to his full potential, especially playmaker Martin Odegaard. Sporting CP midfielder Pedro Gonçalves, who plays a similar role to that of Odegaard, opened up on working with Gyokeres in a new interview this week.
Gonçalves has had to adjust to working with Colombian striker Luis Suarez in front of him this season and reflected on the difference between the new player and Gyokeres. The likes of Odegaard, Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi could perhaps learn a lot from a player in their position.
Gonçalves said: “With Viktor [Gyökeres], it took us longer to adapt because he wasn't a player who sought out connections, first touches, and those one-twos, but rather depth. At that point, it was harder for me to adapt to his style of play, but then he made history at the club, as we know.
“Now, the start has been quite easy playing with Luís and Trincão. We've been doing what the manager asks, with our individual qualities. I think the game is flowing well and will certainly continue. We'll put in even better performances.”
Mikel Arteta provides Gyokeres injury update
Gyokeres was somewhat of a doubt going into the clash against Manchester City, having picked up a knock to the head in Tuesday’s Champions League action. The striker clashed with defender Gabriel and emerged bloodied from the coming-together.
However, in his pre-match press conference, Arteta confirmed that the forward would be ready to face Pep Guardiola’s side. Asked about Gyokeres and Mikel Merino, he said: “Yes, they'll be fine.”
