Arsenal took full advantage of Manchester City’s slip at Old Trafford by comprehensively beating Tottenham 2-0 in the Premier League.

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris gave them a helping hand though when he fumbled a cross from Bukayo Saka that set the Gunners on their way to an important win. Lloris will not want to see a replay of that again.

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard was afforded all the space and time in the world to shoot from outside the box- and he delivered a brilliant strike for the second goal, not much Hugo Lloris could do about that.

The Gunners are now in a fantastic position, eight points ahead of second placed Manchester City, and are truly the deserved leaders in the Premier League.

Asked how the team reacted to the win in the dressing room, the Arsenal boss said everyone was buzzing and he was particularly excited to be able to give the fans something to cheer about.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said : “ I’m very happy for two reasons. One because I saw a team with courage and that really wanted to win. And the other one where we have today. We have a job where we are really privileged to make people happy. Sharing the victory with the fans was really special and all the suffering makes sense.

Mikel and his team will now take on in-form Manchester United before turning attention to the FA Cup meeting against Manchester City, the first time they will meet Pep Guardiola’s team.
