Arsenal 'launch bid' for £60m-rated star as Gunners 'lead' transfer race amid Liverpool & Man City interest

Arsenal are said to have made the first move in a transfer race involving their Premier League title rivals.

Arsenal are reportedly involved in a three-way tussle to land Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich this summer. The Gunners spent big money last summer, hoping to significantly improve their squad to allow them to go one better in the Premier League title race.

More than £200million was spent, leaving the Gunners rather restricted in the January window due to Financial Fair Play. But the London club should have money to spend in the summer, and they appear to be keen on a deal for Germany international Kimmich.

The midfielder is out of contract in 2025, and he has not entered negotiations over a new deal with Bayern. Reports claim he will look to secure a move away from Bavaria this summer.

According to reports in Germany, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all preparing to submit bids for Kimmich, hoping to wrap up a deal before the end of the current campaign. The good news for Gunners fans is that the report claims Mikel Arteta and Edu have already launched an offer, and they could be first to the alter.

The 29-year-old is also expected to have offers from Spain before all is said and done, but he is determined to leave Bayern to experience a new challenge, according to the report. Kimmich is valued at well over £60million by Transfermarkt, but Bayern are going to have to take some sort of loss given the contractual situation and the player's desire to leave.

Kimmich is not likely to win Bundesliga with Bayern this season, but he already has three league titles, three cups and a Champions League with the club. Arsenal will be hoping they can add some of that winning mentality to their squad this summer, but it seems as though they are going to have to win an intense transfer battle.
