Arsenal are facing an anxious wait to discover the extent of an injury suffered by Takehiro Tomiyasu in the 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday. Tomiyasu was forced off in the final 15 minutes of Arsenal's victory with a calf injury.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta admitted after the game that the Japan defender was substituted as a precaution. However, LondonWorld understands that the 25-year-old has now gone for a scan which will determine the severity of his injury.

“He felt something,” said Arteta.

“I don’t know if it was fatigue. “We decided to change straight away and we didn’t want to take any risks. Let’s assess him and see how he is.”

Tomiyasu is expected to be sidelined for the match against Luton Town on Tuesday night, with Arteta praising the right back for his improvement over the last season.

"The first thing he offers defensively is tremendously reliable, and attacking he has certain things he can develop and improve, his timings, positioning, certain deliveries and actions that he can open some spaces for others.

"He is so willing to learn and do that, again he’s another player that has given another level and still have another level in him."

The Gunners are four points clear at the top of the Premier League table following their win against Wolves at Emirates Stadium.
