Arsenal 'keeping tabs' on '£100m Chelsea target' ahead of summer transfer window

Arsenal are 'keeping tabs' on a young Premier League striker who is considered to be a 'huge talent'.

Arsenal are thought to be interested in a move for Brighton and Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson in the summer transfer window, reports suggest. The Gunners are keen to add a new striker to their ranks - could the young Irishman be the answer to their problem?

Arsenal's striker options are currently somewhat limited - in their last game, when they defeated Newcastle United by a score of 4-1, Mikel Arteta opted to play Kai Havertz up top due to an injury setback suffered by Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus is the Gunners' primary striker - but his spotty injury record makes him an unreliable option. Meanwhile, for all of Eddie Nketiah's qualities, his finishing is too wayward to be a regular starter. Havertz, likewise, is a fine player - but he is more suited to playing in the number ten role, rather than as a lone striker.

This season, Ferguson has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Brighton, scoring six goals and notching up two assists. While he started the season brightly, scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle, he now hasn't scored in the Premier League since November.

Which other clubs are interested in a move for Evan Ferguson?

While Arsenal's interest in Ferguson remains apparent, they are far from the only club in the race. Besides Arsenal, teams such as Newcastle United, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the player.

Chelsea, in particular, have been heavily linked with a potential transfer for Ferguson. He would fit neatly into their transfer policy - Blues owner Todd Boehly has a desire to sign all the best young players in world football. At the age of just 19, the Irish international fulfils this criteria - but he is far from the only striker on Chelsea's radar.
