Arsenal show 'interest' in bargain attacker and line up relegated Martin Odegaard back-up

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they turn their attention to the transfer market.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta will now get down to business with transfers ahead of next season. The Gunners stars will be away on holidays ahead of pre-season, and Arteta will be heading off on holidays of his own but not before making sure Berta has the information he needs to move forward with targets.

The Gunners are going to need to get busy to snap up both quality and depth, with a striker likely to be the first order of business. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Sané interest

Arsenal are said to be interested in a deal to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané on a free transfer. According to The Times, the Gunners are already making early moves to seek out a deal, with Sané out of contract with Bayern and already able to agree a pre-contract agreement ahead of July.

Bayern and the winger have been in talks over recent months, but they have struggled to agree on terms, leading to Sané to switching agents and seemingly looking for a new club. It has been reported that Sané’s representative has been shopping him out to Premier League clubs in recent weeks ahead of the summer transfer window.

Lookman claims

Another potential attacking target for Arsenal is Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, who has regularly been linked with a return to the Premier League. According to Caught Offside, the Gunners are snooping around Lookman as they look to improve their options at the top end of the pitch.

The 27-year-old scored 20 goals in the season just gone, also providing seven assists, and what Arteta will like is the fact he can play across the front line, operating either as a striker or a winger. He is valued at £50million.

Transfer journalist Matteo Moretto said of Lookman’s future on Fabrizio Romano’s channel last month: “We told you before that he would leave Atalanta with a 99% chance: now we can say that he will do it with a 100% chance! There are many clubs in Serie A and the Premier League that want him but be careful of some Spanish leads.”

El Khannouss links

The Gunners are said to be interested in a deal to sign Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss after the Foxes suffered relegation from the Premier League. According to Give Me Sport, Arsenal and Wolves are interested in a deal, with the 21-year-old making 32 Premier League appearances during the season just gone. He scored twice and assisted three times, usually playing an attacking midfield role.

El Khannouss is under contract with Leicester until 2028 and is valued at £25.2million by Transfermarkt. Naturally, Leicester are in a tricky position with negotiations after suffering relegation back to the second tier.

Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy was actually bood for taking El Khannouss earlier this season, showing what Foxes fans think of the player. The Dutchman responded by saying: “That one I noticed (boos for El Khannouss sub). It’s okay. You have to accept it and I am. I’m making substitutions to impact the game. It can be in different areas, physical, profile of a player, the opposition. When it’s not received well for once now then I’ll take that one.”
