Arsenal injury news for Dinamo Zagreb as 5 ruled out and 2 doubts
All the latest on Arsenal‘s injury situation ahead of their Champions League date with Dinamo Zagreb.
Arsenal now turn their attention to the Champions League and a date with Dinamo Zagreb with just two games remaining in the group stage of the competition. The Gunners are currently third in the standings and headed for automatic qualification to the Round of 16.
It will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta rests any players for this one, although injuries mean the Arsenal boss is limited as far as squad depth goes. Here we round up the latest injury news ahead of this one.
Gabriel Jesus - Out
Gabriel Jesus has torn his ACL and will spend the rest of the season on the sidelines as a result. A statement confirmed: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.”
Bukayo Saka - Out
Saka will not return until late March at the earliest after having a procedure on his hamstring. Arteta has said: “He had a procedure. Everything went well. But unfortunately, he will be out for many, many weeks. I think it will be more than two months. I don't know exactly how much longer.”
Ben White - Out
White is in the back-end of his recovery after having a knee procedure a couple of months into the season. Arteta says White is still a few weeks away with an early February return likely.
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
Tomiyasu is also looking at an early February return from a knee injury that has kept him out all season. Arteta said recently: “Tomi has done some stuff on the pitch, but we have to see. It has been a long-term injury, and we have to see how quick he progresses and how he reacts.”
Ethan Nwaneri - Out
Nwaneri will be back in early February if he is lucky. The youngster suffered a hamstring injury over the festive period, with Arteta saying: “Unfortunately, he’s picked up a [muscular] injury and is going to be out for a few weeks.”
William Saliba - Doubt
Saliba missed the Villa game, and when asked about whether he knows how long the defender will miss, Arteta responded: “Not yet, I think tomorrow we will have more information, we will have more tests on him and we will be more clear about it.”
Riccardo Calafiori - Doubt
Calafiori should be close to returning, with Arteta saying: “We have a few decisions to make this afternoon with the medical staff to understand whether they are in the best condition for this game or the next one, so we'll decide that.”
