Arsenal get major update on £55m goal-machine striker's transfer future

The RB Leipzig star’s release clause must be triggered by June if interested parties wish to avoid club discussions

Arsenal have been handed a huge transfer update regarding the Slovenian goalscorer Benjamin Sesko, with whom they have been reportedly eyeing up in recent weeks. LondonWorld reported on Monday that the 20-year-old striker had been sparking ‘interest from England and Italy’ following his exceptionally impressive debut season in the Bundesliga and now the latest reports indicate it will be up to the Slovenian as to whether he remains with the German side or seek to further his career elsewhere.

Sesko has scored 18 goals and contributed a further two assists from his 42 games for RB Leipzig this campaign, which is said to have led both Arsenal and Serie A’s AC Milan both to develop an interest in procuring his services this summer. He is currently on a deal with Leipzig that should see him remain there until 2028 but said deal does include a release clause which is reported to be between €50m and €70m.

Sky Deutschland then added further information to this by revealing the striker’s release clause in June’s impending transfer window will be determined by his appearances and performances (goals and assists). Based on his recent form, the buyout clause looks set to be around £56million and has to be activated by the end of June. After then, interested clubs will have to negotiate with RB Leipzig.

The latest news of Sesko’s transfer now indicates he will make a decision regarding his future ‘within three weeks’, thus giving time before the end of June for the buyout clause to be activated. Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, the Italian Football transfers Guru Fabrizio Romano stated: “Benjamin Sesko will decide before the Euros whether he wants to sign new contract at RB Leipzig or leave this summer. His agent confirms places to make decision within three weeks with several clubs interested, especially in PL. No chance to accept Saudi move.”

Leipzig were previously said to be very uninterested in selling their star striker but with 20 goal contributions from 42 fixtures, it will be hard to keep the previously reported ‘top clubs’ away from seeking his services once the summer transfer window opens up in under ten days time.
