Arsenal forward ruled out of squad after hamstring injury confirmed

Arsenal forward Caitlin Foord has been ruled out of Australia’s double header with England and Scotland this week after suffering an injury in the win over Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall has been dealt another injury blow with confirmation that in-form forward Caitlin Foord has picked up a hamstring injury.

The Gunners have had terrible luck with injuries already this season after strikers Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema were both ruled out for the season with ACL injuries earlier in the campaign - and now Arsenal will be hoping that Australian forward Foord’s injury is not a severe one ahead of an important few weeks.

Her national team confirmed this morning that the 28-year-old would be replaced in the CommBank Matilda’s squad after suffering a hamstring injury in the side’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday, with Foord forced off in the 36th minute of the game.

At the time of speaking, the severity of Foord’s hamstring injury has yet to be confirmed but it is certain to leave the Gunners sweating as the squad continues to see injuries effect their campaign.

The injury will be of huge disappointment to the player too, with the Matilda’s set to take on Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses and Pedro Martinez Losa’s Scotland this coming in London as they prepare to host the Women’s World Cup in July of this year, while Arsenal have a UEFA Champions League semi-final in the coming weeks against Wolfsburg.

Australia have confirmed Foord will remain with Arsenal for her rehabilitation and has been replaced by Amy Sayer.
