Arsenal 'fall behind' in race to sign defender as Gary Neville issues north London derby warning

All the latest news surrounding Arsenal as they prepare for a huge North London derby this weekend.

Arsenal are now preparing for the second and final North London derby of the season, facing Tottenham away from home this Sunday. The Gunners remain in the thick of the Premier League title race, but they will likely have to win all of their remaining games to outrun Manchester City.

Everton derailed Liverpool’s title bid earlier this week, showing the danger of derbies at this stage of the season, and Arsenal must overcome that factor this weekend. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Neville on the NLD

Gary Neville has issued his thoughts on this weekend’s crucial North London derby. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “Arsenal cannot be shocked on Sunday. It’s going to be potentially almost like a bloodbath in the first 15-20 minutes.

“The Tottenham fans don’t want Arsenal to win the league. I’ve just been in London so much in the last few weeks. I go in the black cabs all the time and if you bump into a Tottenham fan they’ll say, ‘who do you think will win the league?’ And I’ll go, ‘sorry, I hope Arsenal probably win it because you know, City and Liverpool.’ And they’ll go, ‘I hope not!’ Like that type of feeling exists.”

Gutierrez race

Arsenal are reportedly falling behind in their bid to land Girona full-back Miguel Gutierrez. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but according to GiveMeSport, Manchester United are now leading the race to land the Spaniard.

United could yet have a change of managers, though, which could change the picture further, while Real Madrid still hold a buy-back clause in the youngster’s contract. One way or another, it looks as though the full-back will attract plenty of interest this summer.
