The January transfer window is open - and Arsenal have plenty of work to do, following a pair of disappointing defeats against West Ham United and Fulham. Who will they look to bring in to turn their fortunes around? It's no secret - the Gunners want to sign a striker this month.

They've been linked with several high-profile names - but today, we'll be looking at some lesser-known talents that they are reportedly eyeing up.

Victor Boniface is Gunners' new priority target

Arsenal have been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney for several months now - however, in a late twist, it seems that the Gunners have now turned their attention to Bayer Leverkusen centre-forward Victor Boniface instead.

This is according to a report in the Evening Standard, who stress that he is now their new top priority in the January transfer window. They aren't alone, however - in the recent past, he has been linked with other Premier League clubs such as Everton, West Ham, Brighton and Newcastle United.

Arsenal linked with Marcos Leonardo

Boniface isn't the only striker that Arsenal are linked with. They have also been 'having a look' at 20-year-old Santos forward Marcos Leonardo, according to journalist Tim Vickery.

In an interview featured on Sky Sports, Tim Vickery said: "One that I'm told [Arsenal] have been having a look at is Marcos Leonardo from Santos in Brazil. [He] had a very good U20 World Cup a few months back. He is very raw, but what is interesting about him is that he is a penalty area operator.

"Not a big target man, more of a Romario type figure; very good in restricted space. He doesn't offer you a great deal outside of the penalty area, his link-up play still leaves a lot to be desired. But it could be interesting for Arsenal because his skillset would seem to fit in there with the other type of strikers and wingers that they have. There will be competition for him - Benfica are getting interested as well."
