A look at the early injury news surrounding Arsenal and Crystal Palace as they prepare to face off at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal and Crystal Palace are back in action as soon as Wednesday night when they face off at the Emirates Stadium, with the fixture having been brought forward due to the Eagles’ participation in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.

This will be an interesting tie, and perhaps for all the wrong reasons, with Arsenal clearly prioritising the Champions League semi-finals with PSG, which is less than a week after this game, perhaps tempting Mikel Arteta to rest players. Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner would perhaps be foolish not to rest some of his key stars just days before their date at Wembley Stadium with Aston Villa.

In truth, it’s likely neither side really wants to play this fixture, and you’d have to wonder what they would say if offered to not play it, take a point each and head into the most important games of their season rested and without any fresh injuries. But that’s not how football works, and this game must be played, the risk of injury notwithstanding.

Here we round up all the early injury and suspension news surrounding both teams.

Chris Richards - Out (Suspended)

Richards was sent off after two yellow cards last time out. The second yellow card was a controversial decision, but Palace are unable appeal.

Chadi Riad - Out

Riad is out until the late winter after an ACL rupture. Glasner said at the time: “Chadi has ruptured his ACL, so we have lost [him] for the rest of the season and even longer. There was no impact, and Chadi as well, it was just a normal situation in training ' so it's really frustrating.”

Cheick Doucoure - Out

Doucoure will also be absent long-term with a knee injury. Glasner said: “After further assessments, Cheicky needs surgery on his knee, so we have lost [him] for the rest of the season. We hope [he] will return for pre-season.”

Bukayo Saka - Fit

Saka should be good to go despite a nasty tackle on him against Ipswich. Arteta said: “The referee made a decision, that is clear. He was a bit sore but it's nothing serious, so that’s good.” Whether Arteta will rest his star man is another question.

Jorginho - Out

Jorginho will not return for this one. Arteta said ahead of the Ipswich game: “Jorginho is not going to be available yet, he's still struggling with that incident.” Asked if the midfielder could return for PSG, Arteta added: “That's probably a question for the doctor, it's quite a specific and difficult matter. So I will leave that to the club to make an analysis.”

Gabriel Jesus - Out

Jesus is out for the season with a ruptured ACL, and he is not likely to return until later in the calendar year. A statement confirmed at the time: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.”

Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out

Tomiyasu is out for the season having had further surgery on his knee. A statement confirmed at the time: “Despite an initial procedure, followed by a RTT, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure. He will now begin his rehab programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.”

Kai Havertz - Out

Havertz was thought to be out for the season after hamstring surgery, but he could now return before the end of the season. Arteta said last week week: “Semi-finals? I think that's too close. But if I have to bet on him earlier than expected, I would say yes. The way he works every day in that gym, pushing everybody, I don't think you can hold him much longer.”

Gabriel Magalhaes - Out

Gabriel is out for the season. A statement confirmed: “Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season.”

Riccardo Calafiori - Out

Arteta has confirmed before the Ipswich game: “Riccardo as well probably is not going to be available.” On whether the Italian could be back for PSG, he added: “If everything goes well, I think so. Maybe a little bit earlier, so let's see. He's on the pitch already, he's done quite a lot of stuff and we just need to make the right steps now to make sure that when he's back he's in a good place to perform.” That suggests the Italian is looking at next week in the best case.
