Manchester United are reportedly looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of Rangers youngster Jack Wylie. The Red Devils are keen to lure the prospect to Old Trafford as they keep one eye on the future.

The Herald claim Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘preparing’ a raid on the Ibrox club for the teenager as they look to bolster their youth ranks. The report suggests they are ‘leading the race’ for his signature amid interest from other Premier League teams.

Rangers are eager to keep hold of the defender, who can play at either centre-back or right-back, and will offer him a deal when he turns 16 in August. However, they will have to bat away interest from some big clubs from below the border.

Arsenal are said to be keeping tabs on his development, as reported by the Daily Record, but the Gunners have strong competition to get him now. The likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe have made the step up into their first-team over recent times which shows it is possible at the Emirates Stadium.

The London club are top of the Premier League table during the World Cup break and are five points ahead of 2nd place Manchester City after their blistering start to the season. They have the chance to bolster their ranks in January ahead of the second-half of the campaign and also have the opportunity to boost their academy.
