Arsenal could lodge 'offer' for Serie A ace as Aston Villa and Manchester City target is eyed

Arsenal have been back in Premier League action this weekend

Arsenal won 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and Ethan Nwaneri got their goals at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s side are 4th in the Premier League table behind Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. Here is a look at some of the latest news and rumours regarding the club...

Midfielder eyed

According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal could lodge an ‘offer’ for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders in the near future. The Serie A ace has reportedly emerged on the Gunners’ radar ahead of the January transfer window.

Reijnders, who is 26-years-old, moved to the San Siro in 2023 and penned a five-year deal. He has made 64 appearances for his current club in all competitions and has scored eight goals, four of which have come this season already.

Arteta could see him as someone to add more competition and depth to this options in the middle of the park. The Zwolle-born man has made 20 caps for the Holland national team so far in his career and has also been on the books at PEC Zwolle and AZ Alkmaar in the past.

His father, Martin, has recently said: “The boys [Tijjani and his brother] had something special. They were able to read the game at a young age. Then they had an immense advantage over their colleagues. Tijjani went straight to the top of the world. I once told him: ‘If I had been the coach I would have thrown you out of football, you do nothing!’

“Above all, he accepted constructive criticism. Even if it drove us crazy at times. I told him that if he signed a contract he could leave school. He had two years to prove himself, otherwise, he would go back to school. My wife didn’t agree. But if you can become a footballer, that piece of paper is worthless. You can become extremely financially independent.”

Youngster wanted

Arsenal are ‘leading’ the chase to sign Malaga CF youngster Antonio Cordero, CaughtOffside claim. The teenager is also believed to be wanted by Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus , PSG, Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa.

The 18-year-old winger is being tipped for a very bright future in the game and may have been identified by the Gunners as a potential long-term attacking option. He has played 14 games this term and has scored three goals, as well as laying on three assists for his teammates.

Malaga were promoted to the Spanish Segunda Division earlier this year after a spell down in the third tier. They could face a battle to keep hold of the prospect though amid attention from some of Europe’s elite sides, including Arsenal.
