Arsenal confirm key midfielder to miss remainder of the season

Arsenal has received a huge blow with the news that their captain will miss the rest of the season with injury.

The club was dealt yet another injury blow with confirmation that captain Kim Little will miss the remainder of the season due to injury.

A bitter blow to Jonas Eidevall’s side, the news will rule her out of a number of crucial Women’s Super League fixtures while she will also be unable to play any part in the Champions League semi-final games with Wolfsburg at the end of the month.

The 32-year-old sustained the injury in the Gunners recent UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final win over Bayern Munich at the Emirates and the club have confirmed tests show that Scottish midfielder has picked up a hamstring injury which will see her sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Swedish boss Jonas Eidevall and his side have endured terrible luck with injuries this campaign and Little’s injury will be a further blow after losing both forwards Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema earlier in the season owing to ACL injuries. He is also without midfielder Lia Wälti after the Switzerland star confirmed she was taking a “short personal break” last week, adding “the last weeks and months have been difficult, and mentally and psychologically exhausting.”

Arsenal face a season defining game with Manchester United this coming Wednesday as two of the season’s title challenges go head to head in one of the Women’s Super League most intriguing title races of all time.
