Arsenal vs Brentford early injury news as 8 ruled out and 4 doubts

Arsenal return to action on Saturday when they take on London rivals Brentford as they look to keep up momentum for their trip to Madrid. The Gunners beat Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, and they will already have an eye on the second leg given they don’t have all that much to play for in the Premier League.
Brentford are currently in 12th place, and they will be hoping to climb into the top half before all is said and done, currently three points off. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding the Gunners and the Bees.

Hide AdFabio Carvalho - Out
Frank said last month: “[Carvalho] is a longer one. A quick and good recovery could keep the return to play time down, so he could be back just before the end of the season.”
Igor Thiago - Out
Thiago has a chance of returning before the end of the season. Frank said: “Thiago is progressing, going a little bit slower, but progressing. He is building the muscle volume and strength around the knee to make sure he ticks all of the strength markers. He is running, and he is also part training, so it’s moving forward.”
Josh DaSilva - Out
It looks like the clock could run out on DaSilva, who looks more likely to return for pre-season. Frank said: “Josh Dasilva is a little bit further off it than Igor.”
Aaron Hickey - Doubt
Hickey goes down as a doubt because his situation, and especially his return date, is unclear. Frank said in his last address on Hickey: “Hickey is on track. He had some minor pain, which limited his minutes; we’re being extra cautious.”

It’s a similar case for Nunes, who is close to returning. Frank has said: “Hickey, Rico and Nunes all came through well [for the U21s], but it’s just too short for them to be involved in the Newcastle game. All three looked good and ticked the physical boxes.”
Gabriel Jesus - Out
Jesus is out for the season with a ruptured ACL, and he is likely to return in the winter. A statement confirmed at the time: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.”
Declan Rice - Doubt
Rice had to come off against Real Madrid. Arteta said afterwards: “I think Dec had an issue with his foot, I don't know if it was a tackle or what it was.” Arsenal may be inclined to rest him for Wednesday.
Bukayo Saka - Doubt
Saka also came off against Real Madrid, with Arteta explaining: “Bukayo was after he got tackled on the foul, I think he had a knock and he had to go.” Saka may also be rested here if there is risk.

Tomiyasu required further surgery on his knee after spending months out. He will now remain out for the season. A statement confirmed: “Despite an initial procedure, followed by a RTT, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure. He will now begin his rehab programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.”
Kai Havertz - Out
Havertz suffered a season-ending hamstring injury that required surgery in February. Arteta said at the time: “We were having a great camp in Dubai recharging, training, having some time off and connecting again with nature in a different environment, and then the injury happened in a very unexpected way.”
Gabriel Magalhaes - Out
Gabriel is the latest to have been ruled out for the season. A statement confirmed: “Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season.”
Riccardo Calafiori - Out
Calafiori is likely to be out until late April with his knee injury. Arteta’s last address was simply that: “Riccy is not fit...”
