Arsenal and Chelsea could have their interest in wantaway Brentford striker Ivan Toney renewed thanks to a new bombshell transfer revelation that the marksman could be sold for half of his supposed £100 million price tag this summer.

The England international is expected to leave the Gtech Community Stadium come the end of the season with a long list of Premier League clubs said to have held interest in his services over the past 12 months. Having scored 20 top-flight goals last season, the West London outfit were believed to want £100 million for his services.

That fee had somewhat curtailed reports of Arsenal and Chelsea interest with such a big outlay sure to cause concern over Profit and Sustainability Rules. However, after failing to score in his last eight league outings, it now appears that Brentford may let their star man leave for a much lower fee.

That's according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, who says that Toney could be available for as little as £30 - £40 million. The striker's recent form won't have helped his valuation but Brentford are also in a tricky position with the player's contract.

Toney's deal at Brentford is set to expire in the summer of 2025, meaning that the upcoming transfer window is somewhat of a last-chance saloon for the club to make sure they benefit financially from his departure. However, with points penalties to Everton and Nottingham Forest this season, clubs are cautious with spending and the £100 million initially demanded could be unrealistic in the current climate.

Recent weeks had seen West Ham emerge as frontrunners to complete a deal for the former Peterborough United man. David Moyes has deployed Jarrod Bowen as a striker this season, but the star is a winger by preference and question marks remain over the future of alternative talisman Michail Antonio at the London Stadium.
