Arsenal have been heavily linked with Alexander Isak as they search for a striker in the summer.

Arsenal are facing somewhat of a crisis up front as Kai Havertz suffered a season-ending hamstring injury during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai this week. Furthermore, Gabriel Jesus is also out for the remainder of the year with an ACL injury.

It means that Mikel Arteta does not have a striker at his disposal, meaning he may have to play the likes of Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling out of position moving forward.

The Gunners are seven points behind Liverpool after the Reds dropped points against rivals Everton on Wednesday night. Arsenal face a game against a struggling Leicester City at Saturday lunchtime.

Arsenal target Isak reveals transfer stance

The Gunners have been linked with signing Newcastle United striker Isak, who has scored 17 goals in 22 Premier League games for the Magpies this season, showing himself to be one of the best strikers in Europe. Arsenal learnt a £115m price tag had been set on Isak by Newcastle, and may have to negotiate hard if they are to work a deal for the Sweden international during the summer transfer window when they will likely address their striker issues.

However, Liverpool are also interested in Isak, and according to a report by TeamTalk, the Newcastle striker is keen on a move to Anfield, which could be a major blow to Arsenal. The report says that Liverpool have shortlisted Isak amid uncertainties surrounding Darwin Nunez, who has scored just four Premier League goals in 19 games for Arne Slot this season.

It also says that Isak would be keen to move to Anfield due to the fact that he wants to play Champions League football and compete for trophies. According to the report, Isak is “very interested” in a move to Liverpool. Arsenal are likely to move for the striker in the summer window, but in recent weeks they have been linked with one of Liverpool’s players, which is ironic considering the reports today.

Arsenal linked to Diogo Jota

As the Gunners look to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window, they have been linked to Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota in somewhat of a shock move.

The Portugal international has scored five goals in 14 games, he has also contributed two assists for Slot’s side this season, becoming the Liverpool manager’s first choice striker this season.

However, he has been dealing with injury problems this season, meaning that his consistency has been limited. Liverpool could be prepared to sell the 28-year-old in the summer, meaning Arsenal could make a move.

He is valued at £42 million, and if the Reds were to sell him, they could be more likely to make a move for Newcastle’s Isak as they will have more funds available for a transfer move, considering PSR rules.
