Arteta has targeted Calafiori due to his versatility and ability to play at fullback, while he can also play in midfield if required.

Jakub Kiwior is the subject of transfer interest from Italian giants Inter as well as Juventus, with Arsenal willing to allow the Poland international depart if they can make a profit on the £17.5million they paid for him last January.

Meanwhile, captain Martin Odegaard has shared his aspirations for the upcoming season.

"We have unbelievable quality in the squad, and we showed what we're capable of, especially towards the end of the season," Odegaard told reporters at Arsenal’s Marbella summer training camp.

"We made history. I'm really pleased with the team and the immense talent we have, so I'm not too worried about our capabilities."

"You feel more prepared with each season. There are a lot of young players in the team, and as one of the older guys, I enjoy that role. Having that experience is something I hope to use in the best possible way. As you get older, you feel more responsible and like you're reaching your peak.

“Hopefully, there's a lot more to come."
