Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares was reportedly asked to leave a Marseille training session by their manager Igor Tudor.

The revelation was made public by French sports newspaper L’Équipe, which had conducted an interview with Tudor on Wednesday.

During the interview, Croatian manager Tudor had spoken at length about the level of commitment he expects from his players during training.

He revealed that a player, who was not named at the time, was recently sent back to the dressing room because he “was not making necessary efforts.” L’Équipe later confirmed that the player in question was Tavares.

Tudor explained his approach to training, stating, “In my football, there is a feature, you have to run. And if you don’t… If I see one player that doesn’t run in training, I’ll say it once, twice and then on the third time of asking, I’ll intervene.”

Tavares joined Marseille on loan from Arsenal in July and has scored six Ligue 1 goals for the team as a wing-back.

However, his decision-making and defensive abilities have been criticised, leading to a mixed impression of the player.

Tudor also reportedly singled out French international wing-back Jonathan Clauss for his performances during training.

LondonWorld understands Arsenal are open to offers for Tavares this summer, with the player not expected to be in Mikel Arteta’s plans for next season.

The incident involving Tavares is likely to add fuel to the growing tension within the Marseille squad. The team has struggled to find consistency this season and is currently in seventh place in Ligue 1.
