London MCC Foundation Boys Hub to play at Lord's

Leyton Boys Cricket Hub will represent East London at Lord’s on Saturday 13 September, after reaching their first-ever MCC Foundation National Hub Competition Final.

Their road to the final has been one of the most impressive in the competition. Leyton secured victories over Newham, Wembley, Kent East, South Bucks and Guildford to book their place at the Home of Cricket.

Along the way, the side produced the highest individual score of this year’s competition, thanks to the outstanding batting of Umair Chaudhry.

The boys will face York Hub in the U16 Boys’ Final on the main ground at Lord’s, with both teams making their debuts on Finals Day.

The fixture promises to be a showcase of rising talent from opposite ends of the country.

Leyton’s achievement reflects the strong cricketing culture in East London and the opportunities created by the MCC Foundation Hub Programme.

The Leyton Hub has offered young players free-to-access coaching and competitive opportunities, helping nurture ability, resilience, and a love for the game.

The MCC Foundation Finals Day, generously supported by Barclays, is the culmination of a national competition that spans 164 hubs across the UK, reaching more than 5,500 young cricketers.

Alongside the boys’ final, the day will feature the U16 Girls’ Final between Guildford and York, as well as U14 competitions on the Nursery Ground.
