Despite midweek Premier League fixtures taking place, Brentford’s jam-packed season continues this weekend as the Bee’s travel to Birmingham to face Aston Villa on Sunday (October 23). The game, to be played at Villa Park, kicks off at 2pm with all eyes on who will take over the managerial position at the Birmingham club.

After a loss to Fulham midweek, Aston Villa’s board made the decision to sack former Liverpool great Steven Gerrard, with rumours already circulating over names who could replace him. Former Tottenham, Southampton and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is once again a name being floated around.

Brentford though remain in the steady hands of Thomas Frank, who guided the team to their Premier League status in 2002 after a EFL Championship play-off victory against Swansea City. Frank’s management has also seen the rise in players such as English striker Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo alongside giving Christian Eriksen his return to football after this cardiac event at Euro 2020.

Despite lying in 10th position in the Premier League table, Brentford’s season so far has seen the team crush a beleaguered Manchester United earlier this season, seen Ivan Toney earn an England call up and become somewhat of a favourite for neutral fans. Their survival in the 2021-2022 season also bucked the trend of promoted team yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Championship.

But with the game being played on Sunday, among other key fixtures including London neighbours Arsenal travelling to Southampton to continue their run in the Premier League, will Aston Villa v Brentford be screened live on TV?
