Or, for a more modern twist take a trip up the Spinnaker Tower for views over the Solent.

The Cumbrian Mountain Express

On Saturdays, June 20 and August 1, The Cumbrian Mountain Express tackles this route. Leaving from London Euston and Watford Junction, the train picks up steam at Carnforth and travels through the Cumbrian Fells to ancient border city Carlisle. After a break the train will steam over the Settle & Carlisle Line, so sit back for breathtaking views.
