The Swanage Belle

On Wednesday, September 11, ‘The Swanage Belle’ will depart from London Victoria, Staines and Woking.  Steaming through Winchester, Southampton and Bournemouth you will see spectacular Poole Harbour along the way.  The Belle takes the Swanage Railway, renowned for magnificent views of Corfe Castle, and stops in Swanage for around three hours so you can enjoy the sandy beach, Victorian pier or visit Durlston Castle in the country park nearby where there are stupendous views along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The West Somerset Steam Express

‘The West Somerset Steam Express’ runs on Saturday, September 14.  You will travel in the company of two historic steam locomotives in one day!  Setting out from London Paddington or Slough with locomotive 45596 Bahamas to steam through picturesque rural countryside and along the tranquil Kennet & Avon Canal, later the train will be headed by a different steam loco as it travels along the West Somerset Railway into Minehead.  This delightful Bristol Channel seaside resort’s station is close to the beach, so slip off your shoes for a paddle before it’s time to steam for home.

The Atlantic Coast Express

On Saturday, September 28, why not take ‘The Atlantic Coast Express’ from London Waterloo or Woking for a nostalgic rail journey following part of the route of the old ACE expresses of former years, with thrilling climbs up Crewkerne Bank and Honiton Summit on the way.  An afternoon break provides chance to explore the historic city of Exeter with its fine cathedral and historic quayside.

The Cumbrian Coast Express

Head north on board ‘The Cumbrian Coast Express’ on Saturday, October 5, from London Euston or Watford Junction and you will be in for a breathtaking journey through the grandeur of the Cumbrian Fells and along the exposed Cumbrian coastline.  This vintage train will be joined by a magnificent steam locomotive at Carlisle for the coastal route, which promises views out over the Irish Sea and across Morecambe Bay.
