On Wednesday, On the Beach secretly worked with hotel staff and Peter’s children, via his manager Claire, to surprise him with a cake as he dined on the seafront.

The soon-to-be 5-year-old took to Instagram to thank the travel holiday specialists for his personalised cake, as well as his wife and manager for organising the trip.

He wrote: “It’s been incredible so far but the stuff with the kids is the best. Watch this space… more posts coming in the next few days. so grateful. Thanks to Emily and Claire for organising. It’s not even my birthday yet 😂 Thanks to @onthebeachholidays for the incredible cake ( I’ll post soon)”.

Zoe Harris, chief customer officer for On the Beach, said: “It’s wonderful to see Peter embracing his role as our Head of Summer Holidays and sampling some of the fantastic hotels we have available for customers visiting Dubai.

“We’ve enjoyed secretly planning the surprise and by the looks of it, he’s had an incredible holiday. I can’t think of many better ways to celebrate a 50th!”

In a previous post, Peter thanked Emily, On The Beach and Emirates after a “wonderful” business class flight to the United Arab Emirates country.

He wrote: “What a way to start celebrating my birthday (not until 27th). Thank you so much Emily and Claire for organising this for me. We have got so much to show you over the coming days.

“Here’s a little teaser of what we’ve been up to so far at the @anantaraworldislandsdubai 😍. Thank you to @onthebeachholidays for making me head of summer holidays. Also Thank you to the wonderful @Emirates for looking after us on our flight out here. ✈️”

His most recent post shows the family-of-six enjoying a day at desert dining and entertainment venue Sonara Camp.

The pop icon said the memories were “unforgettable” as he shared pictures of his eldest son Junior holding an exotic bird and a video of the family sitting down to watch a fire show in the sand.

Peter reflected on his milestone birthday in a column for Ok! Magazine ahead of his trip to Dubai, saying: “ I guess it’s a bit of a birthday celebration. I mean, I’m not 50 until the end of the month so I’m getting in early – lol.

"I’ve decided I’m not doing a birthday party as I’d much rather celebrate it bit by bit throughout the year. I was always a bit freaked out about turning 50, but it’s coincided nicely with me celebrating 30 years in the industry. Focusing on the 30 and not the 50 sounds better!

"It sounds old but it really isn’t. I feel so young. I train, I love food, I love life.”
