Love Island star Layla Al-Momani has been struggling to hold back tears everyday due to online “abuse” since returning home from the South African villa.

The Casa Amor bombshell, 28, from London, was building a connection with Will Young, 23, until the TikTok star decided to recouple with Jessie Wynter.

The kissing and flirting between the farmer and Layla left Love Island fans furious, after many rated Will and Jessie as the most compatible couple.

Since returning to the UK, Layla has shared her experience with online trolls and reminded viewers that she is “an actual person with feelings”.

She told The Sun: “The abuse has been a lot. I have struggled with that. If you look at AfterSun, you can see my eyes are really red, because I’ve been crying before.

“It’s tough because I feel like I have to defend myself but in a really careful way, because anything I say at the moment, people are just like, ‘oh, but you’re this, you’re that’.

“It’s really wild because ultimately, I do have feelings at the end of the day, I am an actual person with feelings. There’s not been a day that I haven’t cried.”

Layla also explained that she was portrayed differently through ITV edits and that viewers didn’t see the “silly and fun” side of her.

She added: “I think they definitely wanted to portray me in a certain way, which I understand. I was definitely seen more as the sexual, beeline for Will, steal your man type of person, when really it was more silly and fun.

“There were things that were missed out. I understand ITV can’t post everything, they literally can’t but from the chat with the girls the day after I am being attacked for that for apparently not saying certain things that I did actually say. That is frustrating.

“That day I was crying my eyes out, I was crying nonstop but we didn’t see any of that. They didn’t want to show it.”

This series, Love Island bosses released a number of new regulations to protect the islanders. For the first time in the ITV show’s history, those going into the villa were made to freeze their social media accounts.

However, trolls used a number of Layla’s old photos to bully the brunette beauty.

On a bikini picture of Layla, which she posted in August last year, one troll commented: “Do you ever wear a bikini that fits?? 🐍”.

On a different photo, from December last year, a cruel commenter added: “You lying on tv for air time… back to the day job”.

This wasn’t the only troll that called her a liar, with another asking: “Why do you not tell the full truth ? Why did you only tell her the really bad parts? Wtf”
