Storm Babet: Where five London local flood alerts have been issued as yellow rain warning in place

Five localised flood alerts were issued for London on Friday morning (October 20) as heavy rain arrived with Storm Babet.

A yellow rain warning for rain remains in place covering the capital until Saturday.

London flood alerts

The government issued five flood alerts for London in the early morning (October 20):

  • Beverley Brook area in Merton, Sutton, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth
  • Chertsey Bourne
  • Ravensbourne area in the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Bromley, Greenwich and Croydon
  • River Brent from Hendon to Brentford
  • River Pinn and Woodridings Stream

In all areas, water levels and rainfall are being monitored.

Met Office weather forecast - London and the South East

The Met Office forecasts raining clearing northwards through the morning, with brighter skies and scattered showers developing in the afternoon. Rain may be heavy and thunder is possible in areas.

Winds should be light and a maximum temperature of 18°C is expected.

The evening will be cloudy, with maximum temperatures of 11°C.

On Saturday, London is expected to remain largely cloudy Saturday, with lighter winds and scattered heavy showers in the afternoon.
