Parts of London had a dusting of snow last night but when can the rest of the capital expect snowfall? Here’s what the forecasters are saying.

Northern parts of the city were some of the first areas to experience snow in the capital today (November 19). 

Videos of the flurries have been shared by London locals on social media as they share their excitement at seeing the first snowfall in the city of the year.

Temperatures around the capital have already started to drop, and while this week is set to bring more cold weather other areas are yet to see the white stuff. 

However, they could see now later in the week. Here's when Londoners can expect snow in the capital this festive season.

Is it going to snow in London this year?

Current forecasts show the capital won’t be completely blanked by snow just yet. However, east Londoners could expect to have light snowfall in the early hours of Friday (November 22) according to WXCharts.

On the meteorological service’s latest map, some eastern parts of the city are briefly lit up with purple indicating snowfall around 4am.

According to the Met Office, Londoners can expect to see minus temperatures overnight this week - especially on Wednesday. Temperatures will hit freezing on Thursday night (making it perfect for snow!!)
