A yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for London and much of the rest of England on Sunday (June 18).

The Met Office warns of the risk of sudden flooding and disruption to public transport.

Here is what the forecaster is predicting for the weekend ahead in London.

Friday June 16

The temperature could reach 27C this afternoon, with long periods of sunshine. It could become cloudy overnight with the temperature dropping to 16C.

Saturday June 17

Cloud cover could keep the heat to a maximum of 23C and there is a chance of a spot of rain at lunchtime.

Sunday June 18

A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place, with a 40% chance of rain in London throughout the afternoon. Temperatures could still reach 24C

Monday June 19

Any storms should pass by Monday but there remains the chance of rain in the afternoon.
