Yellow and orange weather warnings were placed around the UK, with Newcastle becoming the first place in five years to receive a red weather warning.

Here’s what the Met Office says for the next couple of days of the week, and the weekend.

The weekend is set to be wet, but the remainder of the week remains dry.

Over Thursday the day will be “a dry and mainly bright or sunny day across the region, but feeling cold in occasionally brisk north-westerly winds. Maximum temperature 5C.”
