‘London’s magical snow shield is in force’ - Londoners react to the lack of snow despite freezing temperatures

As snow and ice warnings continue to be issued across the UK this week, many Londoners have been left wondering why the capital is missing out.

While large parts of the country have been placed under Met Office alerts for wintry conditions, London has largely escaped the worst of it.

There have been a few brief moments of snowfall across the city, of course, but nothing has stuck around for long.

Instead, Londoners have been left with freezing temperatures, icy pavements and plenty of cold mornings, without the snowy scenes to make it all worth it.

Over the last week, temperatures in the capital have dipped below freezing with overnight lows hovering around -1C or lower.

So it’s no wonder city locals are wondering if snow is on its way. You’d think we have perfect conditions for it after all.

Londoners have been sharing their frustration in TikTok videos as others across the country post pictures of their areas blanketed in snow.

While one clip showed a snowless weather forecast for the city, another highlighted how bare the streets are compared to spots in the UK that have had snow.

The sentiments are echoed elsewhere on social media, with users on X saying they are also eager to see some snow in London.

One wrote: “We’d like a bit of snow in London. Seems like everyone else has it.” A second continued: “It looks like London’s magical snow shield is in force…”

Sadly, it doesn’t look like London will get any snowfall after this week, but cold temperatures will start to ease.

Over the weekend, temperatures will peak at 7C on Sunday. Monday will also have highs of 12C.
