Despite January being recorded as the warmest New Year’s Day in recorded history at 15.3C in London, the temperatures are set to plummet at the back end of this week.

Back to more familiar weather on Thursday, with clouds and rain set to dominate. The rain is expected to arrive at around 6pm, but the clouds will make for a gloomy day in London from 12pm onwards. Highs of 6C and lows of 3C.

Friday:

Back to some partially sunny weather, with cloudy intervals to end the week on. A slightly cloudy start, the clouds should clear up to make way for sunshine around 12pm, and will last until sunset. High of 6C and low of 2C.

Saturday and Sunday:

Heavy rain will kick the weekend off, with long, lasting showers expected for most of the day. The rain will ease up around 6pm, but expected various, intermittent showers from then on. High of 10C, low of 5C. Sunday will be a little better, with sunny intervals, interrupted by clouds. The sunny spells are looking likely not to last too long, however, and rain is expected to begin around 9pm. High of 8C, low of 4C.

Monday:

By Monday, the temperature will have risen but still, a very gloomy start to the week. The temperature on Monday will be a high of 11C and a low of 9C. The day will start off with light, consistent showers but they will clear up by lunchtime, with dark clouds remaining in the sky until sunset.
