The wintery weather conditions have led to widespread disruption at airports across London today. A Met Office weather warning for snow and ice has been in place over the capital since yesterday afternoon (December 11).

The worst affected airport is Stansted, which has suspended all of its flights due to the snow and ice. The airport’s runway was closed late last night.

A spokesperson for the airport said: Due to adverse weather conditions, there may be some disruption to your flight from London Stansted Airport. Passengers should check the status of their flight with their airline. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide further updates as soon as possible.

Stansted is not the only London airport to be affected by the winter weather. Flights have also been cancelled at Heathrow Airport.

Amongst the flights cancelled at the West London airport are services to Barcelona and Dublin. More than 50 flights were cancelled yesterday (December 11). The Heathrow Airport departures page on the official website has the latest information on flight status.

Flights at Gatwick Airport have also been delayed due to the weather, which included freezing fog overnight. The 9.30am TUI flight to Cancun is one such flight affected. This will now depart at 11.10am. For the latest flight information, visit the Gatwick Airport website.
