Watch: New ice sculpture represents 'frozen and forgotten' pensioners in London

One man has teamed up with the charity Independent Age to raise awareness about pensioners struggling during the winter.

Turning on the heating was once standard practice for many pensioners during winter months, but today it has become a luxury many cannot afford.

According to a recent study, 43% of older people who lost their Winter Fuel Payment said they were planning to go to bed earlier to avoid heating their home.

While many said they could not afford to switch their heating on altogether.

One of them is 68-year-old Rob from Cornwall who is working with the charity Independent Age to raise awareness for the dangers of cold homes and what they pose to older people.

To shine a light on this urgent issue the charity has unveiled a striking eye sculpture of Rob symbolising pensioners on low incomes facing these conditions.

The sculpture depicting Rob sitting in a cold home will be placed right here in London to highlight how many people feel frozen and forgotten.
