According to the news website, the dolphins were spotted near Richmond on Saturday morning (20 April).

The footage, credited to the Rice Mill restaurant, shows the mammals near Twickenham Bridge.

Fears were raised last month about pollution in the river, with warnings that “alarmingly high” levels of E coli bacteria had been found ahead of the Oxbridge boat race.

The Thames is home to a number of mammals including seals and porpoises. Sightings of bottlenose dolphins are occasionally reported.
