The victim of a fatal collision at Victoria bus station has been named as Catherine Finnegan.

The 56-year-old, originally from Co. Galway died at the scene after being hit by a double decker bus on Monday morning (January 29).

The Met Police said the bus driver, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to hospital and had since been discharged.

A third person was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Ms Finnegan’s family described her as being "a whirlwind in any room" with a "fast Irish wit".

In a statement, the family said: "Our beloved daughter, sister, partner, most adored auntie and treasured friend Catherine Finnegan, known as Kathleen, lost her life on January 29 2024.

"She will be remembered as a very unique lady who had the fast Irish wit and who made her family and friends so very proud of her bright, clever personality.

"She was a whirlwind in any room and lit up this world with her energy, enthusiasm for life and joy.

"She will be forever in our hearts."

Glynn Barton, Transport for London's chief operating officer, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the person who was tragically killed following a collision with a bus in Victoria this morning. 

“This will have been a deeply distressing incident for everyone involved and we have support available for those affected. TfL and the operator RATP are assisting the police with their investigation.”

Police have asked any witnesses who have not yet come forward are asked to call 020 8543 5157 quoting CAD 1417/29Jan.
