Trooping the Colour: 9 best photos as Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte steal the show

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis attended in a horse-drawn carriage.

The Royal Family (some of them, anyway) were the star attraction for ‘Trooping the Colour’ in central London on Saturday.

The ceremony mark’s the King’s official birthday and King Charles III himself took part this year on horseback.

But entertaining the crowds were Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales, riding in a horse-drawn carriage with Catherine, Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla.

The ceremony of Trooping the Colour is believed to have first been performed during the reign of King Charles II. Since 1748, the Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign. More than 1,500 parading soldiers and almost 300 horses took part in the event.

The day was also set to feature an aerial display with 70 aircraft joining a flypast. Crowds could expect to see the Red Arrows, as well as vintage aircraft including Spitfires and the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial flight, which includes the Hurricanes.
