Gants Hill crash: Woman, 80, rushed to hospital after smash - roundabout closed by police

An 80-year-old woman has been rushed to hospital after smashing into the roundabout at Gants Hill.
Shocking footage showed the aftermath of the crash, with traffic coming to a standstill and onlookers rushing to help.

Hide AdCar parts were scattered across the road, and the fire service had to remove the woman from her car.
Scotland Yard said that woman’s condition was “serious, but not thought to be life threatening”.
The Met said road closures at Gants Hill roundabout, which is a major intersection on the A12 in Redbridge, are still in place - and motorists should take alternative routes.
Emergency services were called to the roundabout at 3.55pm after reports of a crash.

Hide AdA police spokesperson said: “Officers, London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and London’s Air Ambulance attended.
“At the scene a car had collided with the roundabout. There were no other vehicles involved.
“A woman, aged 80, was taken to hospital where her condition, although serious, is not thought to be life threatening.”
