London Victoria line: Person dies after ‘incident on the tracks’ at Stockwell station

A person has died after an “incident on the tracks” at Stockwell station yesterday morning (August 27).

Delays were being reported by Transport for London (TfL) on the Victoria line due to a ‘customer incident’.

The transport authority also posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Stockwell station, which is located on the Victoria line, was closed “while the emergency services deal with a casualty on the track”.

A TfL spokesperson confirmed the delays were due to the incident at Stockwell station.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson later told LondonWorld: “We were called at 09:38am today (27 August) to reports of an incident on the tracks at Stockwell Underground Station.

“We sent multiple resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
