There will be no service on the entire London Overground network on Wednesday October 5, Transport for London (TfL) has said.

This is due to a 24-hour walkout staged by members of the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen Union (Aslef) as part of an ongoing dispute over pay.

And 14 other operators, including Heathrow Express, Southeastern and Greater Anglia, will be impacted by the strike action.

On Saturday, October 8, the RMT union, which represents rail workers including guards and signalling staff will also stage a national strike.

Some of London Underground, London Overground and the Elizabeth line will be affected by this action, said TfL.

Bus services will run as normal but may be busier as a result of the rail strike action.

The unions are in dispute with the government and rail companies about pay, job cuts and changes to terms and conditions.

RMT leader Mick Lynch said that talks with the new transport secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan were a "good start", but that "concrete change" was needed.

Mick Whelan, Aslef general secretary said that they “ don’t want to go on strike” but the train companies have “not offered us a penny.”

TfL has asked customers to “check before they travel” in London on Wednesday and Saturday.
