TfL this weekend October 20 to 22: Elizabeth line, Overground, DLR, and tram disruption

Londoners travelling into the capital this weekend could be faced with disruption due to closures on TfL services.

Transport for London (TfL) has asked Londoners to check before they travel this weekend.

To get the most latest updates on the Underground, DLR and Overground you can use the TfL app or website.

Here is the full list of planned TfL service changes this weekend, October 20 to 22.

Thameslink

Due to Network Rail engineering work on Saturday 21 and Sunday October 22, no Thameslink services will operate this weekend between St Pancras International and London Bridge/Sutton/Wimbledon.

Additionally, Thameslink services will not stop at Kentish Town.

TfL is asking customers to check before they travel and use alternative bus, Tube and Southern Railway services, allowing extra time to complete your journey.

London Overground

Sunday October 22

No service between Richmond and Willesden Junction

Use the District line between Richmond and Gunnersbury. Replacement bus services will run between Gunnersbury and Willesden Junction. This is due to Network Rail works.

No service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace until 12pm

Use local bus routes between Anerley and Crystal Palace.

DLR

Sunday October 22

No service between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal

Use alternative Tube and rail services or local or replacement bus services.

No service between Poplar and Beckton

DLR services will still run between Poplar and Stratford International/Woolwich Arsenal.

Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Replacement bus services will run between Canary Wharf and Beckton.

Elizabeth line

Sunday October 22

Reduced service at Burnham, Taplow, Twyford and Reading

One train an hour will call at these stations before 10am and after 10pm, while a reduced service of 2 trains an hour will call at Burnham between 10am and 10pm. This is due to Network Rail works.

London trams

Saturday 21 to Sunday October 29

No service between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction/Elmers End, and between East Croydon and New Addington

Use local bus routes. Replacement bus services will run between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction via Elmers End and between East Croydon and New Addington.

Buses and roads

Saturday October 21

Westminster area

From 10.45am until 4.30pm, a march will take place from the Gambian High Commission to Parliament Square via Northumberland Avenue. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

From 12pm until 2pm, a demonstration will take place at Cleveland Place. Large crowds are expected.

Drumsheds London, Tottenham Hale

The Bugged Out concert will be taking place from 12pm until 10.30pm in Drumsheds London. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected.

O2 Arena, Greenwich

The O2 Arena will be hosting a boxing match from 5.30pm until 11.30pm. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

Saturdays 21 and October 28

A201, Farringdon Street

From 7am until 7pm on Saturdays 21 and October 28, there will be a road closure on Farringdon Street in both directions between the junctions with Charterhouse Street and West Smithfield. This is due to a crane operation.

Blackwall Tunnel

From 0.01am on Saturday 21 until 5am on Monday October 23, the Blackwall Tunnel will be closed to southbound traffic. The tunnel will remain open to northbound traffic but there will be some changes to the layout so pay attention and follow signage as you drive through the area.

From 5am on Monday October 23, the northbound A102 will be reduced to 2 lanes from the junction with Blackwall Lane, which will form part of the new permanent road layout.

Drivers

While these works take place, use alternative routes and river crossings, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel. Larger vehicles or HGVs are advised to use routes away from central London.

Bus customers

From 10pm on Friday 20 until approximately midnight on Sunday October 22, bus route 108 will not cross the river, terminating/starting at Canning Town and North Greenwich. Use the Jubilee line to cross the river during this time.

From approximately midnight on Sunday 22 October, northbound buses will return to their normal route. Southbound buses will be diverted via Tower Bridge until the tunnel is reopened to southbound traffic on Monday 23 October.

From 10pm on Friday 20 until 5am on Monday October 23, bus route 330 will not run to Pontoon Dock and will terminate at Canning Town station. For travel between Canning Town, West Silvertown and Pontoon Dock, use DLR replacement bus services or local bus routes.

Monday October 23 until late December

A13 Commercial Road

From 9m on Monday October 23 until late December, lane closures and temporary traffic management will be in place on A13 Commercial Road at the junction with Rotherhithe Tunnel/Branch Road.

You will still be able to use Commercial Road in both directions, but traffic will be managed through this junction one direction at a time.

If you need to travel through the area or would normally use Rotherhithe Tunnel to cross the river, long queues and significant delays are expected so use alternative routes and river crossings where possible, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel. Larger vehicles or HGVs are advised to use routes away from central London.

Sunday October 22

Westminster

From 10am to 11.30am, The Great Kings Run will take place along the Thames River paths and a circular route including The Mall, Victoria Embankment and Temple station. Large crowds are expected, but no traffic impact is anticipated.

Trafalgar Square

From 11am until 1pm, The Mall will be closed for Trafalgar Square Celebration 2023. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

O2 Arena, Greenwich

The O2 Arena will be hosting Terence Lam in concert from 5pm until 10.30pm. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected.

Sunday 22 until Thursday October 26

London demonstrations

The Just Stop Oil group will be protesting at various locations that will possibly impact routes in the London area. Delays are expected.

A40, New Bridge Street (City of London)

Until 11.59pm on Sunday October 29, New Bridge Street will be closed southbound for a crane operation at the junction of Queen Victoria Street.

Millennium Bridge

Until Sunday November 5, Millennium Bridge will be closed for repair works. Diversion routes will be in place via Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

A501/A4201, Marylebone Road and Park Square West

Until 7pm on Sunday November 5, Marylebone Road will be closed eastbound (lanes 1 and 2 of 4) between its junction with Park Square West for Thames Water works.
