TfL this weekend August 16 to 18: Underground and Overground disruption

Londoners travelling into the capital this weekend could be faced with disruption due to closures on Tube and rail services.
Transport for London (TfL) has asked Londoners to check before they travel.

London Underground
Piccadilly line
Saturday August 17 until Sunday September 1
Planned works and closures on the Piccadilly line to prepare for new trains
During this time there will be:
- No service between Wood Green and Cockfosters (no service between King's Cross and Cockfosters from 0.30am to 6am on Saturday August 17)
- No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge (Metropolitan line services will run as normal)
- A reduced Piccadilly line service between Wood Green and Acton Town
- A reduced number of services running to Heathrow Terminal 4
Customers travelling to central London from stations between Bounds Green and Cockfosters should use local bus services to alternative nearby stations served by Northern line, London Overground or national rail services.
Rail replacement buses will run between Wood Green and Cockfosters, but capacity will be limited.

Hide AdCustomers travelling to the Emirates Stadium during these dates should use Victoria line, London Overground or national rail services, including from Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington stations. Both stations are less than a 20-minute walk away from the Emirates Stadium.
TfL asks customers to avoid interchanging at King's Cross St. Pancras where possible, as this is expected to be very busy.
A normal service will resume on Monday September 2.


London Overground
Saturday 17 and Sunday August 18
No service between Hackney Downs and Chingford
Use alternative Tube, rail or local bus services. Rail replacement buses will run every 20 minutes, calling at all stations. This is due to Network Rail bridge replacement works.
Saturday August 17

Sunday August 18
No service between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction
Use local bus routes. Southern Railway trains will also not run. This is due to Network Rail track work.
No service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace
Use local bus routes. This is due to Network Rail's Victoria Resignalling project.
No service between South Tottenham and Barking Riverside until 12.30pm
Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. Use bus route EL1 between Barking and Barking Riverside. Rail replacement buses will run between Walthamstow Central and Barking. This is due to Network Rail maintenance work.

Monday 19 until Thursday August 22
No service between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace/West Croydon after 11pm each night
Use local bus routes or tram services. Southern replacement buses will depart from London Bridge at 11.58pm (running between New Cross Gate and Streatham Hill via Crystal Palace) and 0.35am (running between New Cross Gate and East Croydon). This is due to Network Rail maintenance work.
No westbound service from Stratford to Camden Road after 11.45pm each night
Use alternative Tube services or local bus routes. The last two trains from Stratford (0.18am and 0.34am) will start from Camden Road instead. This is due to maintenance work.
Wednesday 21 and Thursday August 22
No eastbound service from Willesden Junction to Stratford after 11pm each night
Use alternative Tube or rail services, or local bus routes. This is due to maintenance work.
DLR
Wednesday 21 until Sunday August 25

A reduced timetable will operate on all DLR routes. Trains will run less frequently and at different times. Journeys may take longer than usual.

Thursday August 15
Southall
From 12pm until 10pm, a cultural event will be taking place in Southall. Large crowds are expected.
Aldwych
From 12pm until 10pm, a cultural event will take place outside the Indian High Commission. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Upton Park
From 12pm until 10pm, a cultural event will take place in the Green Street, Upton Park area. Large crowds are expected.
Thursday 15 until Saturday August 17

From 2pm until 11.30pm each day, Wembley Stadium will host Taylor Swift in concert. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected before and after the event.
Friday August 16
Whitehall
From 10am until 1pm, there will be traffic holds in place at Whitehall Place for filming. Increased traffic levels are expected.
Friday 16 until Sunday August 18
Chelsea
From 8am until 8.30pm each day, an equestrian event will take place within the grounds of Royal Hospital Chelsea. Large crowds are expected.
Victoria Park
From 2pm until 11.30pm on Friday, and from 1pm until 111.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, Victoria Park will host the All Points East music festival. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Saturday 17 and Sunday August 18

From 2pm until 10.30pm on Saturday, and from 2pm until 10pm on Sunday, Gunnersbury Park will host a music festival. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Saturday 17 until Monday August 19
Blackwall Tunnel
From 0.01am on Saturday 17 until 5am on Monday August 19, Blackwall Tunnel will be closed to southbound traffic.
This is while works continue to complete the new road layout as part of the Silvertown Tunnel construction. The tunnel will remain open to northbound traffic during these times.
We expect roads and alternative river crossings in east and central London to be extremely busy. Bus 108 will not cross the river from 10pm on Friday 18 until midnight on Sunday August 18.

From 2.15pm until 9pm, The Oval will host The Hundred cricket tournament. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

Sunday August 18
Edgware Road/Connaught Street
From 6am until 11am, traffic holds will be in place on Edgware Road between Seymour Street and Burwood Place while filming takes place. Increased traffic levels and delays are expected.
Central London
From 7am until 5pm, a cycle ride will take place around Parliament Square. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Southall
From 11am until 6pm, a religious event will take place in Southall. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.

On Sunday August 18, a music festival will take place at Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Park, Kensal Road. Large crowds are expected.
Lord's Cricket Ground
From 2.15pm until 10pm, Lord's Cricket Ground will host The Hundred cricket tournament. Large crowds and increased traffic levels are expected.
Lille Road/Old Brompton Road
Until Sunday August 18, Lille Road/Old Brompton Road will be closed in both directions between the junctions of Seagrave Road and Eardley Crescent for Thames Water works.
Whitehall
There will be two separate directional closures of Whitehall for works by Westminster City Council.

Hide AdWork will take place Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, and Saturdays between 8am and 1pm, starting on the southbound carriageway from the junction with Trafalgar Square, before moving to northbound from Wednesday August 14, from the junction with Great Scotland Yard.
While the closures are in place, all traffic including some bus services will be on diversion. Follow the official diversion routes, check before you travel and leave more time for your journey.
Brixton
Until September 10, there will be a series of bus lane closures on the A23 Brixton Road at the junction with Atlantic Road. This is to install new pedestrian and cycling crossing facilities.
You will still be able to use Brixton Road in both directions, but there will be some changes to the road layout. Allow more time for your journey and check before you travel. If travelling locally, consider walking or cycling where possible.
