London New Year's Eve Night Tube: TfL Underground and Elizabeth line - what's running for fireworks

Here is what you need to know about travel on TfL Tube, Elizabeth line and other services overnight on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Crowds will pack into central London along the Thames to watch the New Year fireworks on Sunday night, while millions of others will be celebrating around the city.

Whether you have a ticket for mayor Sadiq Khan's celebrations or you're spending time with friends or strangers, travel will be an important part of the evening.

Here is the latest from Transport for London (TfL):

New Year's Eve Tube

During the day, a normal service will run on the London Underground, though with no service on the Waterloo and City line and no service on the District line to Kensington Olympia.

With those two exceptions, all lines will also run all night.

Stations near the London New Year's Eve fireworks event and in other busy areas of London may be exit or interchange only or have queues, says TfL.

Elizabeth line on New Year's Eve

During the day the Elizabeth line will run a normal service and special night services will run:

  • Hayes & Harlington and Shenfield
  • Reading and Abbey Wood
  • Maidenhead and Abbey Wood

No overnight services run to/from Heathrow.

London Overground on New Year's Eve

London Overground service details:

  • Gospel Oak-Barking Riverside - No overnight service
  • Euston-Watford Junction - Extra late night services at 1.05am fromEuston to Queens Park and at 1.44am from Euston to Watford.
  • Liverpool Street-Enfield Town/Cheshunt/Chingford - Special overnight service
  • Romford-Upminster - No overnight service
  • Highbury & Islington-West Croydon/Clapham Junction/Crystal Palace - No day service between Clapham Junction and Surrey Quays. Special overnight service between Highbury & Islington and Crystal Palace/West Croydon.
  • Richmond/Clapham Junction-Stratford - Special overnight service

DLR on New Year's Eve

A normal service will run during the day and there will be a special all-night service on all routes, running every 15 minutes.

London buses on New Year's Eve

A Sunday day service will run but some buses in central London will be on diversion from early afternoon.

A Sunday night service will run on all 24-hour and night routes. Some routes will run more often and a small number of day routes will run overnight. Check before you travel.

Trams on New Year's Eve

Sunday service will run with a special all-night service between Wimbledon and Beckenham Junction/New Addington only.

IFS Cloud Cable Car

The service will run from 9am to 7pm.

Woolwich Ferry

No service.
