TfL Tube delays and Gatwick rail services among disruption as London awakes after Storm Henk

Delays are hitting commuters on TfL services and rail networks operated by Gatwick Express, Southern Great Northern, Thameslink and South Western Railway.

'Most routes' operated by Gatwick Express, Southern Great Northern and Thameslink are facing disruption following Storm Henk.

Strong winds and heavy rain battered much of the UK on Tuesday (January 2) and delays and cancellations are expected until midday.

Further delays are being experienced on the Transport for London (TfL) Tube network.

National Rail services

Gatwick Express, Southern Great Northern and Thameslink are all facing disruption.

Platform 6 is currently closed at East Croydon due to overhanging hoarding and minor congestion may occur.

North of London, a train broke down at Littleport and Network Rail worked overnight to repair overhead wires and remove a damaged train in the Waterbeach area. Services between Cambridge, Ely and King's Lynn are impacted. Cancellations are reported of services to London.

Disruption on the South Western Railway is expected throughout the day due to trees on the lines after the storm.

Central line

The Central line has minor delays due to a shortage of trains.

District line

On the District line there are severe delays between Turnham Green and Richmond due to an earlier points failure at Gunnersbury.

London Overground

On the Overground there is no service between Willesden Junction and Richmond, and there are severe delays between Stratford and Clapham Junction while Network Rail fixes the points failure at Gunnersbury.

Metropolitan line

The Metropolitan Line has minor delays between Moor Park and Chesham due to train cancellations.

Piccadilly line

The Piccadilly Line has minor delays between Acton Town and Uxbridge due to shortage of trains.
