Traffic lights at the Clockhouse Junction, near Palmers Green, were hit with intermittent issues this week due to damaged cables.

Chaos broke out at a set of north London traffic lights this week as drivers were forced to play “Crossy Road” due to an outage.

Footage posted online shows vans, cars and motorbikes having to engage in what one person described as a real-life version of the popular game in desperate attempts to avoid collisions while the lights were not working.

The signals at Clockhouse Junction, near Palmers Green, were hit with intermittent issues during the week due to damaged cables.

A Transport for London (TfL) spokesperson told LondonWorld the lights were back working by Thursday morning.

They said: “We work hard to keep people safe and to keep traffic moving and we urgently attend to all reports of traffic signal outages to ensure that they are fixed as quickly as possible.

“The outage at the A406 Clockhouse Junction was caused by damaged cables and the complex repair resulted in intermittent issues with the signals this week.

“The traffic signals were fixed on Thursday morning and we’ll continue to monitor the junction to ensure that the signals continue to operate safely.”

A video of drivers using the crossing without working lights was shared on X by UB1UB2 West London (Southall), with the caption: “Traffic lights not working turned the A406 into a game of crossy road.”
